Rush: The supreme goalscorer
He joined Liverpool from Chester City in 1980 and during his career for the Reds he scored a phenomenal 346 goals in 658 league games, which is better than a goal every two games.

At the peak of his game during the mid-80s, Ian Rush was considered the best striker in Europe. His goals helped Liverpool to a string of honours, including 1 European Cup, 5 League Championships, 3 FA Cups and a staggering 5 League Cups. That haul included a double and a treble as Liverpool played the best football in Europe throughout the 1980s.

The only reservation about Rush was his ability on the international stage. He scored an impressive 28 goals from 78 games, but was never given the opportunity to represent Wales at the highest level, at a World Cup or European Championships.

Had he done so, he would have shown his abilities as a ruthless finisher of chances anywhere in or around the box.
