Baggio: 'The Divine Ponytail' was the world's best in the early 90's
Baggio burst into prominence with a superby individual goal against Czechoslovakia in Italia 90. That goal made him an instant hero with the Italian fans and started his career as a global superstar.

Just before that World Cup, Juventus paid Fiorentina a world record £7.7million for Baggio - and he didn't disappoint. He won the Serie A 'Scudetto' title, the Italian Cup and the UEFA Cup during his five year stint in Turin. He was also voted World and European Player of the Year in 1993.

The following year, at the World Cup in the USA, Baggio was at the peak of his powers. A struggling Italy side looked on their way out of the tournament, only for Baggio to produce some inspired performances to not only keep Italy in contention, but take them all the way to the final. He was injured in the final - and his missed penalty in the shootout gave victory to Brazil in Pasadena.

He came back and showed immense character to score a penalty in his very next World Cup match, against Chile in 1998 - and he also helped AC Milan to the Serie A title, but since then Baggio has drifted out of the spotlight and into retirement after spells at Bologna, Inter and Brescia.
