Fontaine: World Cup record holder
His goalscoring record stands up against any forward to ever play the game. In French league football, Fontaine scored an amazing 165 goals in just 200 matches.

His record at international level is even more impressive. Playing for France he managed an incredible 30 goals in 21 matches, including a hat-trick on his debut and 13 goals in six matches in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden - a record that still stands today.

To score so many goals at such a high level of football deserves respect – and in the minds of many Frenchman, Just Fontaine remains their nation’s greatest ever striker.
