Probably the strongest of the summer rumours so far, Gillingham have been linked with a second move for Swansea City striker Adebayo Akinfenwa.
The burly frontman was in and out of the Swans side last season - and expressed interest in a move to the south east. Akinfenwa spent the back-end of last season out injured with a broken leg, but is recovering well and expected to be fully fit for the new campaign.

Out of contract in June, he'll be available on a free transfer should Gillingham show an interest, which they almost certainly will.

Almost certain to be at the top of Ronnie Jepson's hit list, Akinfenwa would provide the pace, power and presence that Gillingham have missed since the departure of Darius Henderson two seasons ago. If the striker opts not to re-sign for Swansea, Gillingham would almost certainly lead the race to sign him. Money would be an issue, but with the need for a dominating front man a priority, the club may be prepared to pull out the stops to secure his signature. Watch this space...
