The Danger Men: Rotherham United

Last updated : 23 November 2006 By Mark Gilmore

“THE HITMAN”

Name: Will Hoskins
Position: Striker
Squad Number: 10
Date Of Birth: 06/05/86
Previous clubs: None
Games played: 17
Goals scored: 12
Red Cards: 1
Goals/Game ratio: 0.7 goals a game

The division's second best goal-scorer, behind Scunthorpe's prestigious Billy Sharp, will be visiting Priestfield this Saturday. Will Hoskins, 20, has surprised many at Millmoor with his reliable sharp-shooting this season, scoring 12 goals in 17 appearances so far.

After three years struggling with injuries and squad competition from better strikers, the former England Under-20 international has only established a regular first-team status this season and looks to have a bright future ahead of him. In the battle of the 20-year-olds, will Hoskins or Jarvis grab the attention of on-looking scouts on Saturday?

“THE EX-GILL”

Name: Justin Cochrane
Position: Midfielder
Squad Number: 12
Date of birth: 26/01/82
Previous clubs: Crewe, Gillingham (loan), QPR
Games played: 10
Goals: 1
Yellow cards: 2

Gills fans will remember Cochrane from his short spell on loan at Priestfield last season. Scoring one goal (a neatly finished effort against Scunthorpe) in five appearances under Ronnie Jepson, his spell was brief but not forgotten. Rotherham decided Cochrane could be of use to them and signed the attack-minded midfielder in the summer, where he has made a steady start for the Millers.

Despite falling out-of-favour at Gresty Road, Justin made over 70 appearances for Crewe at Championship level. Will the skilful player find any joy on Saturday as he returns to his former ground?

“THE ROCK”

Name: Paul Hurst
Position: Left Back
Squad Number: 3
Date of birth: 25/09/74
Previous clubs: None
Games played: 8
Yellow Cards: 1

With over 450 appearances to his name, Paul Hurst is the most loyal servant on the books at Millmoor. In a 14 year career with Rotherham, the left-sided defender has grown to be a big asset and a fine source of experience for younger squad players.

Despite suffering with injury in September, Hurst has forced his way back into the first team and signed a new two-year contract with the northern club. If Mark Bentley lines up on the right side of midfield, as expected on Saturday, then Paul Hurst will be sure to limit the on-form player's goal-scoring opportunities.
