The Danger Men: Tranmere Rovers

Defender - Ben Chorley

Tranmere's big stopper will be well known to Gills fans having spent most of last season on loan at Priestfield from MK Dons. He no doubt caught Ronnie Moore's eye by popping up with a winner in a rare Gills away victory, 3-2 at Prenton Park last December. The ex Arsenal man is a strong, no nonsense defender who is good in the air and dangerous from set pieces. Many of the Gills faithful were surprised that his loan move was not made more permanent during the close season and he was subsequently snapped up by Moore upon his release by the MK Dons.

Midfield - Chris Shuker

This tricky winger started his career with Man City but failed to establish himself and moved to Hartlepool and Walsall on loan before having spells at Barnsley, Rochdale and Macclesfield. He landed at Prenton Park at the end of the 2005-2006 season and has quickly established himself as a fans' favourite. He loves to take on players and has an eye for goal notching 6 last season including one in the Gills 3-2 win at Prenton Park. He impressed in the live Sky game at Priestfield in January last year, giving Danny Jackman a tough time and striking the upright in an all action display. He also has decent delivery and provides regular assists for Chris Greenacre making him one of the most coveted wide men in League 1.

Striker - Chris Greenacre

Like his team mate Shuker, Greenacre started out at City but failed to make the grade. He was loaned to Cardiff, Blackpool and Scarborough before Mansfield snapped him up on a permanent deal. After two seasons with Mansfield, Stoke snapped up the Third Division's top scorer in 2001 but was often played as a wide man and he subsequently failed to make the impact he wanted. Greenacre was happy to move to Tranmere in 2005 and was an instant success scoring 17 goals in his first season and 19 last season as Tranmere's top scorer including one in the Gills win at Prenton Park. He is already off the mark this season with a goal in the opening day defeat to Leeds and is a real goal scoring threat at League 1.
