The Other Side: Tranmere Rovers

NAME:
Matt Jones

FROM:
Heswall on the Wirral

CLUB:
Tranmere Rovers FC

How long have you been supporting Tranmere?

Since I was 4, so 12 years

Who would you consider your main rivals, and why?
Local rivals obviously such as Chester, Wrexham, Liverpool and to a lesser extent Everton, but then Bolton as we were both challenging strongly for Promotion in the early 90's and we also stopped them getting to the 100 point mark in the mid-90's.

Best game of the season so far?
Brighton away for me. To make that long long journey and come away with a 1-0 win was brilliant.

Worst game of the season so far?
Darlington at home in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. We lost 1-0 on a very cold evening on the Wirral and really never looked like winning.

Who's your star player?
We've got a couple. Chris Greenacre gets the goals upfront – anybody who scores 18 goals in a team which finishes 18th in the league last season has talent, whilst Ian Goodison has come into his own playing at centre-back this season and is almost unbeatable! So cool on the ball and great tackler too, I think he's been in the team of the week three times so far.

Whose name makes you groan when you hear they're on the teamsheet?
There aren't any to be honest, depending on who they are playing with. I don't think we really have any weak links in our side, it's just a case of not quite having enough players.

Any promising youngsters to look out for?
Steve Davies is a very quick attacker who can play left-wing as well. Good finisher and crosser as well who always puts in 110%.

If money was no object, which League One player would you sign?
Tough one as there are a lot of good players out there. I think I'd probably go for Andy Robinson from Swansea. We let him go a few years ago and I can't believe how well he is now doing at Swansea on the wing.

Are you happy with your current manager? Why?
But of course! After suffering under Brian Little and finishing way down the table last season, Ronnie Moore has come in this summer and turned the team around. 9 new signings and a great style of football has us pushing up the table and looking like a handy tip for the play-offs or better!

Describe your team in three words.
Immense at home

Finally, your score prediction for the match.
2-0 Tranmere, Greenacre and Mullin for Rovers!
