I felt that for the first half was spoilt by the 3/4 missed chance we had to score. The finishing was woeful.
I also think that Burnley had a good claim for a penalty when O'Connor seemed to be felled by 2 Gills players simultaneously but my view seemed to be in a very small minority. O'Connor then spent the next 2 minutes shouting in the ref's face which is what cost him a booking, not an attempted dive as others thought.
When the goal came you could feel the pressure being lifted off of the Priestfield faithful. A cool finish that has put us in pole position to survive.
I think Jason Brown had a quiet game but was lucky not to be lobbed in the second half when he came rushing out of his goal and failed to clear upfield.
I also think Sidibe had a good game and really seemed to cause the Burnley back 4 problems all game. The way he set Henderson up for a sitter was great work. Considering he is a striker I wonder if his ratio of 1/10 really is good enough. He does cause trouble in other ways though.
Flynn and Douglas really are a 'dream midfield' team. They use the ball well and Flynn always looks like he could run at a player or two. I wonder if we could get a season-long long of the blackburn two next season as it appears they will not be used in the Premiership.
I think Burnley will end their season with a mid-table finish. Considering the fact that they had a mass clear-out at the end of last season they have achieved miracles.
Gills Man of the Match:
Darius Henderson.
Darius really took his goal well after some neat triangle passing. He could have lost his cool and blasted over but he steered it into the top corner. It's a shame he managed to miss the sitter Sidibe set him up for!
Match Rating:
8/10
Referee Watch:
Referee Olivier seemed to be up with the game and kept his cards in his pocket. What more can you ask? However, I did feel that James O'Connor's appeal for a penalty was closer than it seemed. He also got in the spirit of the game when he went over on his arse.
9/10
