We desperately need a new man at the helm to bring new ideas and a fresh impetus to the team. With such a poor result this weekend, that need becomes all the greater. A gap is appearing between us and safety and we need to make moves to close that gap before it grows too big. We need a run of results into the new year to help get us out of trouble – and hopefully a new manager can help the team achieve that. If not, we will be relegated and the new man in charge will have to rebuild the side for League One football next season.
Times are tough at Priestfield at the moment – and Paul Scally's copped a fair amount of flak as a result. However, I firmly believe that he is trying to make the best out of a bad situation. The last thing he needs to do now is make a rushed managerial appointment. Personally, I'd love to see Yeovil's Gary Johnson as our new boss, but as far as I know he isn't on the list, which is a shame I strongly believe he'd make the ideal appointment. Scally must make sure he gets the best man available and not go for the cheap option.
We're at a low ebb right now, but we must back the chairman to make the right decision on our new managerial appointment. Then hopefully the club can move forward.
