Junior was on target for the seventh time in just ten starts to earn Walsall a timely success over Gillingham at the Bescot.
The Brazilian striker struck early in the first-half as Walsall won for only the second time in nine League games.
Their margin of victory should have been greater as Junior's strike partner, Jorge Leitao, missed a host of chances.
Walsall could not have wished to have made a better start as Junior struck after only seven minutes. The Gillingham defence was cut apart by a neat three-man move that finished with Junior firing a left-foot drive past goalkeeper Jason Brown.
Leitao made strides down the left wing before feeding the ball in-field to Australian international midfielder, Steve Corica.
Corica then split the Gillingham central defenders in two with a neat pass that picked out Junior who fired his shot past the stranded Brown.
Walsall should really have quickly added to their advantage only for Leitao to fluff two golden openings when he sliced wide after 16 minutes before firing weakly into the arms of Brown on the half hour.
Gillingham struggled to make an impact in attack and the first time they really threatened was after 35 minutes when skipper Paul Smith pounced on a poor clearance by central defender Ian Roper only to fire his 20-yard drive wide.
But Smith's near miss did at least spark Gillingham into life and they could have forced their way back on to level terms on the stroke of half time but for poor finishing from Marlon King.
Tommy Johnson nodded the ball into his path only for King to fail to fully connect with his shot that Walker was relieved to collect comfortably.
In a bid to try and force their way back into the game, Gillingham player-manager Andy Hessenthaler took himself off at half time and sent on striker Mamady Sidibe to play in a three-man frontline with King and Johnson.
But the move did little to pep up the Gillingham attack and it was Walsall who continued to look the brighter in attack.
Gillingham were fortunate not to fall further behind 57 minutes when Brown did well to hold a fierce drive from Leitao.
Leitao then fired over the bar from close range in the 65th minute before Brown turned a free-kick from Junior away for a corner
