Miller, who is poised to make his first start for Scotland against Iceland next Saturday, took his tally for the season to 21 - with 15 of the goals coming in his last 15 games.

Wolves hammered Gillingham 4-0 at the Priestfield Stadium last October but beat that tally by half-time against Andy Hessenthaler's shell-shocked side.

Nathan Blake and Colin Cameron, who were last on target in the previous win against Gillingham, started the rout with two goals in four minutes.

Kennedy then struck twice before half-time - either side of Miller - who grabbed his second two minutes after the break.

The margin of their victory could have been even higher as both skipper Paul Ince and his former Manchester United team-mate, Denis Irwin, also struck the woodwork.

Gillingham had arrived at Molineux on the back of just one defeat in six games.

But they must have sensed that it would not be their day when goalkeeper Jason Brown was injured in the warm-up.

His replacement, former Wolves keeper Vince Bartram, was then forced to endure an unhappy return to his former club as Jones' team secured only their second home win in the league since the start of December.

Bartram had done well to deny Ince after 15 minutes, but he was powerless to prevent the beginning of the rout two minutes later when Blake grabbed his 11th goal of the season after exchanging passes with Miller.

Cameron doubled their advantage four minutes later after Gillingham central defender Nayron Nosworthy failed to clear a cross from Kennedy.

Kennedy then effectively ended the challenge of Gillingham seven minutes before half-time when he stabbed home a cross from Shaun Newton.

Newton was also the provider for Miller to open his account with a low drive after 44 minutes before Kennedy grabbed his second after Bartram palmed a shot from Blake into his path.

Miller completed the rout after 47 minutes when he was sent clear by Ince and tucked his shot beyond the shell-shocked Bartram.
